Why is turning on Data Roaming necessary?2023-06-23T13:09:45+08:00

eSIMs generally require Data Roaming to be switched on in order to use the eSIM package. If you do not want to risk your other non-eSIM plan being utilised for Data Roaming, be sure to switch off Data Roaming for the non-eSIM plan and turn off ‘Allow Cellular Data Switching’, otherwise you might incur roaming charges on that plan when you leave your home network coverage area.

When does valid usage period of my eSIM plan start and end?2023-06-23T13:23:10+08:00

The valid period starts when your eSIM connects to an allowed network at the destination and you start using data (i.e. enabling your eSIM plan and turning on data roaming at that destination). The valid period can expire early if you use up all your data balance before the end of the valid period.

When can I install the eSIM data package?2023-06-23T13:25:57+08:00

You can install the data package as soon as you purchase it, just before your trip or when you arrive at your destination. After installation is complete, and when your device connects to an allowed network at the destination, then the data package will activate and start the valid usage period. We recommend installing the package just before your trip to spare yourself any hassle when you arrive at your destination.

Note:

  • Installing the package requires an internet connection in your device.
  • Since the QR code is delivered as a URL link to your email account upon purchase, you will need another device (a tablet, laptop, smartphone, etc) to open the email, visit the link to display the QR code on the device’s screen so that you can then point the camera of your eSIM device to scan the QR code and install the package. Alternatively, you can ask a friend or someone nearby if they would be nice enough to take a picture of the QR code and then let you scan it with your eSIM device to install the package.

eSIM

Possess the convenience of buying a data package online at affordable prices, and install it into your device just before your trip. Once you reach your country of destination, you get connected to the internet instantly.

Roaming SIM or Local SIM

Unlike a roaming SIM, there are no expensive roaming charges. Additionally, unlike a local SIM, there is no need to visit a local store to purchase a local SIM card, insert the SIM or swap SIM cards in your device. Using eSIM can help save you time and money.

No it is not transferable, the eSIM package can only be installed on one device and only once.

We use HitPay payment gateway as our secure payment gateway, hence we do not store our customers credit/debit card information.

I have issues getting data on my device after eSIM installation. Should I delete the eSIM and try reinstalling it?2023-06-23T13:45:05+08:00

Please do not delete the eSIM from your device if you have issues getting data. Once the eSIM is deleted from your device, it cannot be installed again as the eSIM can be installed only once and on one device only.

Occasionally, legit emails may inadvertently go to the spam folder due to imperfect filtering by the email service provider, so do check your email spam folder to see if the email is there. If you are still unable to find the email, do contact us for assistance.

You can generally install more than one eSIM profile onto your device, though you can only use one at a time. Refer to your device’s specification for the maximum number of eSIMs you can install — some even allow up to 10.

How do I know if my device is eSIM compatible?2023-06-23T13:32:06+08:00

To find out if your device is eSIM compatible:

  • Check that your device is carrier unlocked.
    • To find out if your iOS device is carrier unlock, go to Settings > General > About. Scroll down to view the “Carrier Lock” section. If you see “No SIM restrictions”, it means your device is unlocked.
    • For Android devices, go to Settings > About. Scroll down to the ‘Network Unlocked’ section. If you see ‘unlocked’, it means your device is carrier unlocked.
  • Check that your device supports eSIM.
    • Open up your device dial pad, dial the sequence *#06# and press call. It will display information about your device’s EID, IMEI and MEID. If your device supports eSIM, it should have an EID (ESIM Unique Identification) number. If no EID field is seen, it means your device does not support eSIM.
    • Note: The USSD code *#06# works on almost all smartphones.

For iOS devices: Go to Settings > Cellular / Mobile Data. The data usage amount can be found under ‘Current Period Roaming’.

For Android devices: Go to Settings > Connections > Network and Internet > Data usage. The data usage amount will be displayed.

We don’t offer rechargeable packages or plans at the moment. Once you have depleted your data, just purchase another eSIM plan that suits your requirements.

You absolutely can. eSIM offers you the flexibility of installing multiple plans/packages to your device and switching easily between them.

Can I make phone calls, or send text messages (SMS) / multimedia messages (MMS)?2023-06-23T13:18:50+08:00

No, we only offer eSIM packages for data only. However, you can use VoIP (Voice over IP) Apps and messaging Apps to send and receive text and multimedia messages or make VoIP voice calls. For eg. WhatsApp, Skype, WeChat, Facebook Messenger, etc.

Note: If your device is a dual SIM eSIM compatible device, and you have an active primary line, you can make and receive phone calls or send and receive text messages with your primary line.

Can I install the eSIM package if my device is carrier-locked?2023-06-23T13:45:55+08:00

eSIM data packages can only be installed into an unlocked device (carrier unlock). Please contact your carrier to unlock your device.

Can an eSIM plan be deleted from my device?2023-06-23T13:20:29+08:00

Yes it can be deleted, but note that once deleted, it cannot be installed again. It is thus advised to only delete it after all the data within it has been depleted / you have no more use for it. If you have issues with your eSIM post-installation, please contact us to help you with it and do not delete it.
